PLSEA Supports Community, Students and Teachers

Supporting Community

Each year our teachers donate their time and money to support the community through various outreach projects. Those projects have included:

  • Annual CAP Agency Food Drive
  • Book Drives
  • Annual trips to cook and serve meals at Ronald McDonald House
  • Home building with Habitat for Humanity
  • Feed My Starving Children

Supporting Students

At the elementary level, our teachers donate funds to help students pay for their trip to the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN.

At the middle school level, our teachers donate funds to help students go on the annual Washington D.C. field trip.

At the high school level, our teachers donate funds to five seniors to apply to their future education.

Our teachers also created a Student Assistance Fund that can be accessed by families in need. Any teacher can nominate a student to access these funds to help when life changing events occur. To date, we have been able to help several of our students and their families through some difficult situations.

Supporting Teachers

Each year PLSEA welcomes new teachers to our district, while continuing to support and recognize our experienced teachers. Some of the ways we do this include:

  • Hosting the annual new teacher welcome luncheon
  • Making annual donations to the Laker Educational Foundation
  • Teacher of the Year celebration
  • Teacher retirement tea

PLSEA represents a dedicated group of educators that take great pride in what we do for our students, families and communities each and every day.
